Young Eagle Event in Los Alamos!

Local young people, ages 8 to 17 will have a chance to take to the skies in the morning of Saturday, October 6th as Northern New Mexico’s Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 691 hosts a Young Eagles Flight Rally at the Los Alamos Airport (KLAM). If the weather doesn’t allow for flying on the planned date, the event will be held the following Saturday, October 13th.

The rally is part of the EAA Young Eagles Program created to interest young people in aviation. To date, the Program has flown more than 2 million children with the help of EAA’s network of volunteer pilots and ground crew.  Pilots at the event will also explain more about their airplanes allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and how pilots ensure safety is the prime concern before every flight.

Flights are by reservation only and can be made by sending the name and age of the interested Young Eagle via email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Hourly flights will start at 8am and continue until noon. Reservations will be taken until all available flights are filled, with some opportunity for stand-by flights. More information on the Young Eagles program can be found at https://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/aviation-education-and-resources/eaa-youth-education/eaa-ye-program.
